WESTBOROUGH- Anthy (Kraly) Thayer, 96, of Westborough passed away peacefully on June 27, 2013 at the Beaumont Skilled Nursing Center in Westborough.
Anthy leaves her three children; Jay Thayer and his wife Polly of Westborough, Mary-Lynne Thayer of Westborough, and Jana McCabe and her husband Jim of Danville, California; and six grandsons; Benjamin, Andrew, Evan, Brett, Tyler and Cole who brought her a great deal of joy and laughter. She also leaves her sister Bess Hartley of Southborough, and was predeceased by sister Pat and brothers George and Harry. Her husband, John Kedric (Ked) passed away in 1993.
She was born in Southbridge, MA a daughter of Pandelly and Maria Kraly and grew up there graduating from Mary E. Wells High School in 1935. Following high school, she worked at the American Optical Company where she met Ked. After the three children were born, the family moved to Paxton and eventually to Westborough. While in Paxton, Anthy enjoyed working at Anna Maria College. In Westborough, she worked for Parke-Davis Pharmaceuticals and then the TJX Companies in Framingham retiring in 1992.
Anthy was a member of the St. Stephen's Episcopal church for many years and enjoyed working on the alter guild in her earlier years. Later, visits from ministers and church members kept her spiritually connected to the church when she could not make the trip.
Anthy enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She took special pride in her Greek cooking and passing on the recipes and techniques that her mother had taught her many years earlier.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the Personal Care Assistants and Nurses at Whitney Suites Assisted Living and Beaumont Westborough for their special care and attention during Anthy's time there.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough on Saturday, July 6 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours.
