Carol Ann Pizza, 72, of Westborough, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the UMass/Memorial Healthcare-University Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Carol was the wife of Dominic A. Pizza. They were married for forty-nine years.
Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Kathleen (Howard) Scanlon. Educated in Worcester schools, Carol graduated from Ascension High School and Salter Secretarial School.
Carol worked as a medical secretary prior to her retirement.
She was a religious education teacher for many years and valued spending time with her family. Carol prayed the Rosary often, enjoyed bird watching, and thoroughly loved to listen to music. Carol has been a resident of Westborough since 1987.
In addition to her husband she is survived by three children, Kathleen Patricia Castro and her husband, Anthony, of Rehoboth, Kristopher T. Pizza and his partner, Robert Cosenza, of Marlborough and Kile M. Pizza of Westborough; four sisters, Madeline Kaskan of Holden, Suzanne Nicholson of Lafayette, IN, Barbara Barry of Whitinsville and Marie Scanlon of Northampton; two grandchildren, Michael and Paul Castro and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Kathleen and Ann Scanlon.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 22, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.
Calling hours at the David A. Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Sunday, May 21, from 2 to 5 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-9959
