WESTBOROUGH- Carol S. Taylor, 89, of Westborough, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013 at home. She was the wife of the late Col. Charles E. Taylor, USAF, retired.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late S. Robert and Bertha (Douglas) Swiss. She was educated in Toledo schools and was a graduate of Michigan State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism.
During WW II she served with the U. S. Navy attaining the rank of Specialist First Class.
Carol was a homemaker and a tireless volunteer. She read to the blind, was a tutor in schools and volunteered at hospitals.
She has been a resident of Westborough for 10 years, and previously lived in Somerville, Florida, Virginia, and in several other countries.
Carol is survived by her two daughters, Jane P. Taylor of West Brookfield and Marcia D. Taylor of North Providence, RI; two grandchildren, Jesse Samuels and Jacob Zinno; and a large extended family.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held from 2 – 4 P.M. on Saturday, Feb. 2 at The Willows, 1 Lyman St., Westborough.
Burial will take place at the V.A. National Cemetery, Bourne, at a later date.
