Charles (Tim) Moss of Westborough, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2018.
Tim was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Liz) Moss, who predeceased him in 2017. He was married to his soul mate for 65 years and they treasured each other each and every day.
A communicant of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Westborough, Tim’s church family was so very important to him. He was integrally involved in parish life, having served as a Stephen minister, leader of Pastoral Care, youth ministry and various vestry positions. He gave selflessly to his church community and was loved by all he touched.
Tim was born in England in 1930 to parents Ronald and Lorna Moss. Tim emigrated to Canada in 1957 with his wife and young family, living there until the family moved to Westfield, New Jersey in 1967. In 1979, Tim and Liz and their young son Roger moved to Westborough, a community that both Tim and Liz loved more than anything.
Tim was the ultimate self-made man. After he left England as a dairy farmer, he put himself through night school at McGill University in Montreal while working full time during the day to support his family. He earned his CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation upon graduation and worked his way up various corporate ladders at Canadian National Railways and Bristol Myers of Canada; finally becoming the Vice President of Finance at Squibb Corporation in New York City. He took over as the President of Squibb-owned Table Talk Pies in Worcester in 1978, precipitating the move to Massachusetts. He then became the owner of other businesses including Continental Firetruck Company and Alumni Cold Food Storage which led to his eventual retirement in the early 1990’s.
Surviving Tim are his children, Sarah Kaiser (Frank), Penny Ciccone (Charlie) and Roger Moss (Maureen) along with grandchildren Mike Kaiser, Kate McKee (Trevor) and Alex Ciccone (Lindsay) and great grandchildren Rosie, Cora and Ellis McKee. Family meant everything to Tim and he will be terribly, terribly missed.
In lieu of flowers, Tim would have appreciated contributions to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, his favorite charity.
A celebration of his life is planned for Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St Stephen’s Church, 3 John St., Westborough, Massachusetts.
