Christine A. Smerlas

Chrstine A. Smerlas, 95, of Westborough and formerly of Waltham, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 27, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Lambert Smerlas. Devoted mother of John Smerlas and his wife Gayle. and Francine Judd and her husband Ronald. Loving Grandmother of Nicholas Judd and Alanna Merritt and her husband Cian. Christine had a brilliant almost 96 years and touched so many of us in special ways.

Christine was a constant fan at her family’s sporting events which she enjoyed while her grandchildren were growing up. She loved her wide circle of friends as they were so important to her.  Her passion was her family and friends and a love for the Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots. After a lifetime in Waltham, MA, working for the telephone company and The Waltham School System, Christine created a beautiful life in Westborough as a long-time resident of The Willows community with dear friends for the last 14 years. When she moved in, Christine ran the Willows general store, cultivating wonderful friendships.  She loved participating in all activities and truly enjoyed her weekly poker nights!!

She was the best friend anyone could have asked for and always put everyone before herself. She was loving, caring, giving and always there to help others.  She was very witty and had a fabulous sense of humor everyone enjoyed. She had such passion and love for people!  Many friends and staff surrounded her at the end as they all came to say goodbye. She will be TRULY MISSED BY ALL!  We love you, Mom!!

Christine is also survived by her sister Pauline Ravanis, nieces Carol (Ravanis) Rourke and Carol Lou Angelos, nephews George Ravanis, William Ravanis, Charles Angelos, and Louis Angelos.

She is also predeceased by her brother Arthur Angelos.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, December 4th, in the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Bigelow Ave., Watertown.  Burial will follow in Mt. Feake Cemetery, 203 Prospect Street, Waltham, alongside her husband Lambert.

A period of visitation will be held prior to her funeral service from 10 to 11 A.M. in the church.
