Christopher Wilson Bramley, 74, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, following a six-month battle with leukemia. He was surrounded by his loving family. Chris was born December 27, 1941, in Worcester, Massachusetts, the son of Jack Wilbur and Virginia “Ginny” (Wilson) Bramley.
Chris is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 52 years, Charlotte (Price) Bramley, his brothers: Jeffrey Bramley, Peter and his wife Cheri (Trull) Bramley, his children: Christopher Jr. and his wife Jennifer (Dodge) Bramley, Candice and her husband Paul Silverberg, Craig Bramley and his wife Kimberly Simmons, Curtis and Emily (Hendricks) Bramley, grandchildren: Grace, Christopher III, Katherine, Hunter, Paul Jr., Logan, and Colin, niece Jennifer Mathis and his nephews: Michael Price and Scott Bramley. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Sarah Bramley.
Chris was a longtime resident of Westborough, and graduate of Lawrence Academy, Yale University, and the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business. He spent his long professional career in the banking industry. Starting in the credit department at Worcester County National Bank, he rose to the senior executive level, holding positions as Chief Executive Officer of Shawmut Community Bank, Safety Fund National Bank, and TD Banknorth Massachusetts. A director of numerous professional organizations, including the Mass Bankers Association, Chris served as President of the Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation.
Chris’s generous spirit was dedicated to helping organizations within the community. Over the course of three decades, Chris was a leader and supporter of the Boy Scouts of America at both the local and council level. He served on the boards of many non-profit organizations, including the YMCA of Central Massachusetts and the Worcester Foundation for Biomedical Research, and as the president of the boards of the Greater Worcester County Community Foundation, and Mechanics Hall.
Throughout his life, Chris loved his time on the golf course and was an exceptionally accomplished golfer. He was most recently a valued member of Worcester Country Club and Bear’s Paw Country Club in Naples, Florida. A devoted family man, Chris also loved hiking, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, October 14, at 10:00 A.M. in The Congregational Church of Westborough, 57 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours at the David A. Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Thursday, October 13, from 4 to 8 P.M.
