Curtis W. DuFries, 53, of Auburn, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at home.
Curt was the son of Ronald W. DuFries and Lois (Parker) Ginsburg and the brother of Lisa D. Hall and Bradley W. DuFries. He grew up in Westboro where he enjoyed youth sports like Pop-Warner football and youth basketball coached by his father.
He also leaves behind his brother-in-law William H. Hall, nieces Alexis Clay and her husband Aaron, Rebecca Anderson and her husband Jonathan, Rachel Welsh and a nephew, John Welsh and his wife Dulce.
Curt took great pleasure in competing in BMX (Bicycle Motocross) throughout the region. Ironically, he was riding a bicycle when he was in a hit-and-run accident two years ago, from which he suffered a traumatic brain injury and several disabilities. A week later, his long-time girlfriend, Christine, passed away and Curt was never the same.
Curt was educated in the Westborough Public School system and attended Assabet Valley Technical/Vocational High School.
He took great joy in what others would call the “simple things,” especially in nature and music. He loved animals: his dog Lucky which passed before him; and the birds that made a home in one of the many birdhouses he hung. Curt was surrounded his entire life with meadows and wildflowers and spent many days fishing and boating especially at Lake Chauncy in Westboro with family and friends.
Before becoming ill, Curt worked in construction and landscaping, most notably Central Mass Contracting Corporation and Lawn Doctor.
Calling hours are Saturday, October 7 from 2 to 3pm at the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, immediately followed by a Remembrance Service. The burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to “Meals on Wheels” at eswa.org/contributions/
