WESTBOROUGH- Cynthia Elizabeth Conti, 87, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Charles Conti.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Mansell A. and Lillian M. (Berry) Simpson. She was educated in Braintree and was a 1943 graduate of Braintree High School.
Betty worked as a secretary at St. Peter’s Church in Plymouth many years ago. She was a former member of St. Peter’s Women’s Club, a former member of the Gourmet Club and the Newcomers Club. She also had served as a den mother and Girl Scout Leader.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, braiding rugs and making wedding cakes. At the Willows she was know as the “puzzle ladyâ€.
She has been a resident of Westborough since 2003 previously living in Longwood, FL, Plymouth and Weymouth.
Betty is survived by one daughter, Cheryl M. Volpe and her husband, John, of Grafton; four sons, C. Craig Conti and his wife, Linda, of Northborough, Clifford F. Conti and his wife, Joan, of Nashua, NH, Clark R. Conti and his wife, Roxy Wallace, of Charlton and Chris P. Conti and his wife, Maria, of Bridgewater; a sister in law, Eleanor Simpson of N. Weymouth; a brother in law, Michael Conti and his wife, Ellen, of Swampscott; eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who affectionately called her “Aunt Bettyâ€.
She was pre deceased by one brother, George Simpson and two sisters, Viola Hirtle and Thelma Reed.
A prayer service will be held on Monday, May 13, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. in the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough. Burial in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne, will be private.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Sunday, May 12, from 2 to 5 P.M.
