Dale H. Chambers, Jr., 81, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at the Dodge Park Rest Home in Worcester. He was the husband of Sara-Jane (Scott) Chambers.
Born in Framingham, MA. he was the son of the late Dale and Eleanor (Day) Chambers. He was educated in Holliston and Essex schools and was a 1953 graduate of Gloucester High School. After graduation he entered the military serving with the
U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Following his service to our country he attended and graduated from Becker Junior College where he earned a degree in Business Administration.
Dale’s career in golf started at Westborough Country Club where he was subsequently recruited by MacGregor Golf Company as a salesman. After eight years, he began work for Titleist/Footjoy Worldwide as a salesman, later becoming Regional Sales Manager, National Sales Manager and eventually U.S. Senior PGA Tour Promotion Coordinator retiring in 2001 after 32 years with the company. He was a three-time winner of the Titleist Sales Rep. of the Year. Following his retirement he worked part time at Juniper Hills Golf Course, was a volunteer at the Westborough Food Pantry and the Westborough Senior Center delivering Meals on Wheels.
Locally he was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, first president of the Westborough Civitan Club, a former member of The Rotary Club of Westborough, a member of the Gloucester Elks, WASA, WCC Operating Committee For 15 years he was instrumental in bringing Boston sport figures to the Piccadilly Pub to raise monies for many charities.
In addition to his wife of 59 years, he is survived by five children, Faye M. Sterling and her husband, Michael, of Preston, MD, Lianne C. McCann and her husband, Peter, of Concord, MA, Grace E. Whelan and her husband, Daniel, of Halfmoon, NY, Dale H. Chambers, III and his wife, Christine, of Salem, NH and Dean M. Chambers and his wife, Tammy, of Eagle CO; one brother, Michael F. Chambers of Boston; a sister, Kathleen Chambers; 18 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the father of the late Laura-Jane Lyons and brother of the late Beverly Bolton-Ryan, David R. Chambers and Luanne Affonso.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dodge Park Rest Home and Notre Dame Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 25, at 10:00 A.M. in St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 3 John St., Westborough. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery will be private.
Calling hours at the David A. Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Wednesday, February 24, from 4 to 7 P.M.
