WESTBOROUGH- David W. Herter, 65, of Westborough, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Jo (Conley) Herter.
Born in Waltham, he was the son of the late David J. and Emma M. (LoChiatto) Herter and was educated in Waltham schools.
During the Vietnam Era he served with the United States Army.
David entered the field of high-tech in the late 1960’s and spent twenty plus years in a variety of executive management roles. In 1991 he began his own business, consulting and recruiting executives for venture -backed companies. Starting his own business provided the freedom for Mr. Herter to devote more time to his real passion, writing. He was the published author of “News At Elevenâ€.
In his spare time he enjoyed politics, all sports, fine dining, doing laps in his pool and most of all, time with his family.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Marta L. Herter of Newport Beach, CA; one son, Matthew D. Herter of Westborough; one sister, Paula B. Faverio of Shenandoah, VA and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 16, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Interment will be private.
Calling hours are Sunday, January 15, from 2 to 6 P.M. at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough.
