WESTBOROUGH, MA – E. Louise (MacMullen) Allen, 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the Beaumont Skilled Nursing Center in Westborough, MA
Louise was born on December 30, 1915 in Fitchburg, MA to James Cornelius and Pearl Edith (Harrington) MacMullen. She graduated from Fitchburg High School and Boston School of Domestic Science. She was employed as a dietitian at United Hospital, Portchester, NY.
She married John Bradford Allen in 1939, and her wonderful husband passed away in November 1980. Louise leaves her son, William Bradford Allen and his wife, Mary Clement-Allen, of South Hadley, MA; her daughter, Elizabeth Louise Simino, and her husband, Darrell, of Westborough, MA; her Granddaughter, Amy Louise Blattner, her husband, David, and her Great Grandsons, Bradford David and Jonathan William of Shrewsbury, MA; her Grandson, Andrew Bradford Simino, his wife, Catherine, and her Great Granddaughters, Isabelle Helen and Allison Mary of Franklin, MA. She also leaves many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Louise was predeceased by four siblings: Edson Coe, Stuart Addison, and Warren Harding MacMullen and her sister, Harriett Isabelle St. Cyr.
Prior to moving to The Willows Retirement Community in Westborough, MA in April 2004, she was a very active member of the Centre Congregational Church in Lynnfield, MA, volunteered for many years for the Lynn Department of Social Services, member of Daughters of the Nile in Lynn, MA where she proudly marched and traveled with the Nile Precision Marching Team. She was a very active member of Jessamine Chapter No. 75 Order of the Eastern Star in Gardner, MA until she moved to Lynnfield. After moving to Westborough, she received her spiritual support from the Westborough Congregational Church.
Louise lived a very active life for most of her 96 years and was able to meet and hold each of her four Great Grandchildren; this was her greatest joy of all. She loved holidays and family gatherings. She was a great cook and loved flowers, reading, and spending time on the Coast of Maine.
Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main Street, Westborough, is assisting the family. A private Memorial Service will be held at the Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge, NH at the convenience of the family.
