Edward “Ed” M. Clasby, 98, passed away peacefully at St. Vincent’s Hospital with family at his bedside on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 2:32am. Ed was formerly a resident of Framingham, MA for more than 40 years, and most recently resided at The Willows Assisted Living Community in Westborough, MA. Ed will always be remembered for his ability to counsel wisely and his selfless loyalty and devotion to family, friends, and his Catholic faith. He was truly gifted with extraordinary intelligence and strength of spirit. 

Ed was born in Jamaica Plain, graduated from Natick High School, and then attended the University of Notre Dame until serving in the Naval Air Corps in World War ll. After his time in service, he completed his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from Boston College where he played football, hockey, and baseball and then attended Harvard Business School. Ed taught and coached at Cranwell Preparatory School in Lenox and then moved to Framingham where he lived and worked for many years and owned CT Garrahan Insurance Agency with his wife, Mary. 

Ed was active in serving his profession and community in many roles; as a Framingham town meeting member, Vice Chair of the School Committee, Trustee of Framingham Union Hospital, Trustee of the Boston College Athletic Advisory Board, Trustee of Framingham State College (where he also served as Chair), Director of the Massachusetts Independent Insurance agents Association, Rotary Club member, and Officer and Director of the Framingham Youth Hockey Program. He was especially devoted to developing programs and serving as an officer for the South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) to improve the social and health circumstances of families in need.

Ed loved sports and coached hockey, baseball, and football with town youth groups and as an individual mentor. He was honored by Natick High School and Boston College as an inductee into their respective Sports Halls of Fame.

Ed was predeceased by his loving wife Mary (Garrahan) Clasby (April 18, 2021). Ed and Mary were inseparable love birds for 67 years. After a short delay, they are now together again - reconnecting in love and marriage. 

He is survived by his children Maryanne Bombaugh (Keith), Edward Michael “Mike” Clasby (Deborah), Elisabeth “Beth” Eyster (Lou), Shaun Clasby (Teresa), Ann-Marie “Amy” Sullivan (Michael), and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

A private funeral Mass will be celebrated with Ed’s immediate family.
