Eileen Young, 82, of Westborough, MA and formerly of Worcester, MA died on Sunday, January 11, 2015 surrounded by family. She was the beloved wife for 38 years of the late Lawrence J. Young who passed away in 1995. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Ethel (Connolly) Spayne.
Mrs. Young was a graduate of the former Commerce High School and worked many years at the former American Steel and Wire Company in Worcester, MA, where she met her husband. She was a dedicated parishioner of Saint Luke The Evangelist Parish in Westborough and a member of the church’s knitting circle through which she made numerous prayer shawls and baby blankets for those in need. She also volunteered at the Southborough Food Pantry.
She was preceded in death by her brother Robert W. Spayne of Southborough, MA and is survived by her nieces and nephews Elizabeth Spayne, Robert T. Spayne, Mary O'Rourke, Margaret Berryman, Kathleen Gero, Carol Foley, Nancy Kaye, Mary Ellen Murphy, Robert Young, Edward Young, Joseph Young and Michael Young. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and several cousins, including Cynthia Wray of Oxford, MA, with whom she was especially close. She also leaves behind her lifelong friend Margaret Amiot of Holden, MA, and countless other dear friends and neighbors.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 20, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
