Eleanor M. Barney

Eleanor M. “Ellie” Barney, 90, of Westborough, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Ronald N. Barney. Ron and Ellie would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on September 18, 2024.

Born in Whitehouse Station, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Kramer) Lachenmayr. She was raised in West Hempstead, NY and graduated from Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park, NY and went on to earn an associate’s degree in business at Hofstra University.

Ellie had a long career as a Real Estate Broker working for Dorothy Hickox Real Estate, Century Twenty-One and REMAX.

She was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church where she served the parish as a Eucharistic Minister and CCD Teacher. She was also a member of the Westborough Women’s Club and the Westborough Garden Club. Ellie was a Master Gardener, and her gardens were a labor of love.

In addition to her husband she is survived by three children, Kevin J. Barney of North Chelmsford, Glenn T. Barney and his wife, Pam, of Northborough and Maryellen Barney of Sammamish, WA: one brother, Walter Lachenmayr of MD and one sister, Barbara Smith of NY and four grandchildren, Danielle (Alex), Scott, Christian and Lauren.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 18, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.

Calling hours at the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Tuesday, September 17, from 4 to 6 P.M.
