Elmer W. “Bill” Bennett, 93, formerly of Westborough, Shrewsbury and Centerville passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the Pavillion Nursing Center in Hyannis. He was the husband of the late Ethel R. “Duddie” (Robbins) Bennett.

Born in Westborough, he was the son of the late Elmer and Pearl (Hunter) Bennett. He was educated in Westborough schools and was a graduate of WPI.

Mr. Bennett was employed as a chemist for Surprenant Manufacturing in Clinton retiring in 1987.

He was a member of Tau Beta Phi Fraternity and was a former member of The Congregational Church of Westborough.

He is survived by two sons, Stephen W. Bennett of Mesa, AZ and Peter C. Bennett and his wife, Diane, of Centerville and three grandchildren, Andrew, Caitlin and Matthew.

He was the brother of the late Norman Bennett.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 2, at 10:00 A.M. in Pine Grove Cemetery, South St., Westborough. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough.
