WESTBOROUGH- Emily M. Collins, 93, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehablitation Center.
Emily was born to Fred and Lena (Ronda) Bianchi on September 8, 1918 and had a brother, Louis, and a sister, Emma, who predeceased her. She was married to Joseph Collins for 45 years until his death in 1986. She graduated from Westborough High School where she was the captain of the girls’ basketball team. She attended Becker Junior College and then worked at Bay State Abrasives for over 50 years.
Emily was the devoted mother of Ronda Lanzetta and her husband, Al. Loving grandmother of Jason Lanzetta and his wife, Carolyn, David Lanzetta and his fiancé, Elissa Zizmor, and Jeffrey Lanzetta who died in 1990. Emily was very proud of her three great-grandchildren, Lily, Cate and Nathan who brought her much joy. She also leaves her niece, Beverly Thurrott, and her husband, Jack, and her nephew, Louis Bianchi, and his wife, Jean, and grand niece and grand nephews and their families. Besides her family, Emily leaves her adopted family at Beaumont Skilled Nursing in Westborough who took such loving care of her over the past 21 months and made sure that her time there was filled with kindness and happiness.
Many thanks to the special visitors who were dedicated to providing her with companionship and support and to the Salmon Hospice Care Team who brought her much comfort. Emily will be missed by many but remembered with smiles and love. She enjoyed gardening, trips to Florida and helping others. She attended St. Luke the Evangelist Church for many years.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
