Frederick A. Newey

WORCESTER

Frederick A. Newey, 88, of Worcester, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 27, 2021. He was the husband of Margaret (Margie) R. Richard.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Frederick and Lillian (Bertsch) Newey. He was raised and educated in Needham and was a graduate of Needham High School. He also attended and graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston.

During peacetime he served with the United States Army attaining the rank of SP4.

Fred owned his own advertising agency called the In Group for many years. In later years he was a Real Estate Broker with REMAX.

He was an accomplished artist, photographer, and music lover. He painted many beautiful places he found in nature. He was stationed in Austria when in the service, and fell in love with Vienna.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife, cooking, and was a wine connoisseur. In his younger years he loved motorcycling, snowmobiling, and camping.  He was an avid gardener and reader. He loved family time, and especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife he is survived by four children, Kerin J. Black and her husband, Wayne, of Southborough, Kristen J. Saulnier and her husband, Brian, of Blackstone, Frederick K. Newey and his wife, Pamela, of Pelham, NH, and Kathe J. Coll and her husband, Stephen, of Northborough. He is also survived by Margie’s children, Donald C. Richard and his wife, Kristi, of Salem and Michael A. Richard of Worcester; his former wife, Jean-Marie Newey of Shrewsbury and eight grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister Phyllis Powell.

Funeral services will be private.
