George McKendrick, 78, of Westborough, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 2, 2015 at home. He was the husband of the late Georgina (Hale) McKendrick.
Born in Forth, Scotland, he was the son of the late Matthew and Marion (Morton) McKendrick and was educated in Scotalnd.
George served in the Cameron Highlanders in Scotland and also served with the Glasgow police in Scotland and Edmonton police in Canada. In the United States he worked as a guard at the Lyman School, as a stocker at Morgan’s Industrial and for the Westborough DPW prior to his retirement.
George was a member of the Worcester Kiltie Pipe Band and was a piper for the Westborough Police Department. In Scotland he was four- year world champion with the Glasgow Police Pipe Band. He was also a member of the Siloam Lodge AF & AM.
He is survived by two sons, Martin McKendrick and Ronald MacKendrick and his wife, Melinda, three grandchildren, Richard and his wife, Kendra, Isley Skye, Alicia and two sisters, Marion Gracie and Agnes Foley.
A graveside funeral service will be held, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, In Boston, and Springfield , Mass.
