Gwendolyn A. Walker, 76, of Rochester, MA passed away peacefully on December 27, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. She was the wife of the late Richard C. Walker of Rochester, MA (formerly West Boylston, MA).
Raised in Beaumont, CA, she was the daughter of the late Edward U. and Anna M. (Faulkner) Carlson. She was crowned Miss Cherry Valley before moving to New England where she met and married her husband of 53 years. She began her family in Westborough before moving to West Boylston. She was a Jehovah’s Witness attending the Burncoat Worcester and Middleborough Congregations.
Secularly, she brought her special smile to her customers at the Franklin Manor, Stuart’s Diner, the Millbrook and to patients at Hahnemann Hospital’s ER.
She enjoyed camping in York, ME with her family, traveling the USA, caring for her family and yard sales. She was a Mom who could water ski, roller skate backwards and cook the best food ever for six children. She dearly loved her grandchildren and the chance to spoil them. Gwen was known for her crocheted rag rugs and her love of fall. She was a friend to so many and will be greatly missed.
Gwen is survived by and was truly proud of her children and their families: Wendy Finch of Rochester, Bruce Walker of Albion, ME, Keith Walker of West Boylston, Matthew Walker of Fairfield, CA, Mindy Bernard of Millbury and Rebecca Walker of Apollo Beach, FL. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She leaves behind one brother, John H. Carlson of Middleborough and was predeceased by her brother Edward A. Carlson and her sister Jennifer S. Gloria.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 9:30 A.M.in the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours are Monday, January 2, from 3 to 5 P.M.
