WESTBOROUGH- Henry F. “Harry†Lindsay, 85, of Westborough, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013 at the UMass- Memorial Hospital, Worcester. He was the Husband of Virginia L. “Ginny†(Kaprelian) Lindsay to whom he was married for 59 years.
Born in Westborough, he was the son of the late George M. and Alice C. (Ward) Lindsay. He was a 1945 graduate of Westborough High School and was a member of the WHS 1945 State Championship Football Team.
He entered the U. S. Navy in October of 1945 and served on submarine service based in New London, CT and was honorably discharged in October 1948.
Following his military service he attended and graduated from Boston College Class of 1955.
Harry taught Social Studies and History and coached football at Bellingham High School from 1965 to 1984.
He recently resigned after eight years as co-president of the Westborough Food Pantry. He was a former member and past Grand Knight of Council 85, Knights of Columbus and was a former member of the Wednesday Senior Golf Group.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, Susan E. Lindsay and her husband, Raymond Davis, of Portland, Maine, Leah J. Fatini and her husband, Walter, of Centerville and Alison V. Giammarco of Westborough; four grandchildren, Matthew and Margaret Davis, Bryan Fatini and Charles Giammarco.
He was the brother of the late George Lindsay, John Lindsay, James Lindsay and Margaret Lindsay Craig.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Monday, Feb. 4, from 4 to 7 P.M.
