Harry V. Taylor, Jr., age 76, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the Westborough Health Care Nursing Home after a period of declining health.
Born on October 9th, 1948, Harry was the son of the late Harry V. Taylor, Sr., and Mary “Proud Mary” Taylor (Fay), and was raised in Reading, MA. He was educated at Austin Preparatory High School in Reading, MA, and Mass Bay Community College in Wellesley, MA, where he earned an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts.
In addition to his parents, Harry was predeceased by his son, Robert H. Taylor, his best friend, and the pride and joy of his life, who passed away in March of this year. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Robert “Bob” Taylor and Francis “Frank” Taylor.
Harry spent over 30 years as Vice President of Quality Catering, a family-owned business, in Northborough, MA, where he took great pride in working alongside his loved ones. Most recently, he worked as a driver for Lyft.
Harry was an amazing son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and friend. He was known for his kindness, wisdom of world history, passion for fast cars and driving, and love for rock-n-roll. He was deeply involved in his family’s lives, dedicating himself as a Boy Scout leader, baseball coach and soccer coach, among others.
Harry found great joy in music and singing, which were true passions of his. He played guitar, and for many years, was a member of the Westborough Community Chorus, where he brought Frosty the Snowman to life every Christmas. It was a highlight for his family and friends to see Harry perform on stage.
A dedicated sports fan, Harry was a loyal supporter of the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins. He also had a deep love for NASCAR, attending many races at iconic tracks including Daytona, Pocono, and Watkins Glen. Harry enjoyed golf and was a league member at Juniper Hill C.C. He was a skier, loved his daily newspaper, especially his crosswords, and enjoyed playing cards with friends, particularly the game of Pitch, where he was a formidable opponent.
Harry is survived by his brother, Joseph Taylor, MD, and his spouse, Marie Brennan, of Reading, MA, and their daughter, Sarah Taylor, of Los Angeles, CA, and their son, Ryan Taylor, of Reading, MA, his niece and God-daughter, Jacqueline Taylor, of Westborough, MA, his nephew, Sean Taylor, and his spouse, Tori St. Martin, and their son, Kyle St. Martin, and their daughter, Paige Taylor, of Worcester, MA, his step-daughter, Kendra Clark-McGovern, and her spouse, Gary McGovern, and their son, Brady Mcgovern, of Katy, TX. and step-son Matthew Clark, and his Daughter-in-law, Rabbekka Clark, and their sons, Caleb Clark and Eli Clark, of Mendon, MA.
Services will be private. Harry’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Westborough Health Care for their compassionate care during his final days.
