WESTBOROUGH- Henry L. Danis, Jr., 70, of Westborough and South Yarmouth, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the Cape Cod Hospital after being stricken ill at home. He was the husband of Judith (Letellier) Danis.
Born in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late Henry and Juliette (Lavoie) Danis and was a graduate of Westport High School. He earned a bachelors degree from Bridgewater State University and earned a masters degree in history from the University of Connecticut.
During the early 1960’s he served with the United States Air Force with the 38th Air Police Squadron.
Mr. Danis was the Town Manager for the town of Westborough from 1994 to 2009 prior to his retirement. Previously he was the Town Administrator for the town of Leicester, and had also worked as an advertising sales manager.
Henry was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church, was a Life Member of the John Boyle O’Reilly Council #85, Knights of Columbus, was a member of the Retired Men’s Club of Cape Cod, a member of the Audobon Society, enjoyed candlepin bowling and reading.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his three children, Kirsten N. Danis and her husband, Robert Kolker, of Brooklyn, NY, Henry L. Danis, III and his wife, Jenna, of Gastonia, NC and Rebecca R. Danis of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Ann Danis of Kingston, RI and four grandchildren, Audrey and Nathaniel Kolker and Katie and Jamie Danis.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 30, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne.
Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Wednesday, August 29, from 4 to 7 P.M.
