Howe C. Monteith, 97, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Westborough. He was the husband of the late Shirley A. (Gibson) Monteith who died in 2004.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Howe and Eva (Clare) Monteith. He was educated in Quincy schools and was a graduate of North Quincy High School. He also attended and graduated from Northeastern University.

During WW II and the Korean Conflict he served with the U. S. Navy attaining the rank of Lieutenant.

Howe was employed in general management with the General Services Administration in Boston retiring in 1985. He also worked at General Electric, was the product manager for the Worcester Telegram in Worcester,  Thayer Plastics in Leominster and general supervisor for Thompson Wire in Worcester.

He was a long time and dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church and has been a resident of Westborough since 1955.

Howe is survived by one daughter, Gail E. Ketcham and her husband, Robert, of New Fairfield, CT; one son, Thomas O. Monteith and his wife, Cathy, of Kennebunk, ME; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was the father of the late Kenneth Monteith and Scott Monteith.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 20, at 10:00 A.M. in the First United Methodist Church, 120 West Main St., Westborough. The burial, with military honors,  will be at 2:00 P.M. in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, 20 Sea St., Quincy.

Calling hours at the David A. Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Tuesday, July 19, from 6 to 8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 120 West Main St., Westborough, MA 01581
