WESTBOROUGH- James P. Kilcoyne, 60, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2014 at the MetroWest Medical Center in Natick. He was the husband of Claire L. (Ruane) Kilcoyne.
Born in Clinton, he is the son of Mary Hastings Kilcoyne of Clinton and the late John M. Kilcoyne. He was a graduate of Worcester Academy in 1972 where he played football, basketball and track and was awarded the Sportsmanship Character Award. He also graduated from Brown University in 1976 after being recruited for football and track.
Jim was a Lieutenant at MCI, Shirley, retiring after 25 years of service.
He was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church, coached football at Assumption College for five years, coached local sports and has been a resident of Westborough for 28 years.
Jim enjoyed being with his family, nature, gardening, kayaking, summer vacations in Ogunquit, ME and was an avid reader.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one son, Brendan James Kilcoyne, Westborough High School Class of 2014; two brothers, John M. Kilcoyne and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Sterling and Timothy J. Kilcoyne of Clinton; one sister, Julia M. Konola and her husband, Jukka, of Sterling; two sisters in law, Barbara Ruane Donlin and her husband, JD, of Peabody and Eileen Ruane and her significant other, Gordon Army of Worcester; a brother in law, Paul Ruane and his wife, Ellen, of Paxton; 12 nieces and nephews; one great niece, four great nephews, a large extended family and many close friends.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 4, at 12 Noon in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.
Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Tuesday, June 3, from 4 to 8 P.M.
