J. Gabriel Boire, 85, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at home with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of the late Marie T. (Libonati) Boire, who passed away in 2013.
Born in Beekmantown, NY, he was the son of the late Alexander and Amelia (Tetreault) Boire, both originally from Quebec, Canada. He lived and worked on the family dairy farm, and graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1954.
During the mid-1950’s, he served with the United States Army. Gabe married Marie in Philadelphia in 1957, and the couple settled in Massachusetts.
He was a respected carpenter and home builder serving Westborough and surrounding towns with his business, Gabe Builders, Inc. He was known for his high quality standards for his own work and that of others. He was generous with his skills, and always willing to help a friend or family member in need. He enjoyed fishing, square and round dancing, and playing cards.
Gabe was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church where he served as an usher at the 5:00 P.M. Mass. He was also a member of the John Boyle O’Reilly Council 85, Knights of Columbus. After retirement, Gabe volunteered at the Westborough Senior Center, preparing meals for seniors and caregivers.
He is survived by one son, Christopher P. Boire of Westford; two daughters, Ann M. Boire of Danville, VA and Deborah A. Boire of Boulder, CO; one brother, Arthur G. Boire of Beekmantown, NY; his close friends, Bill Barton of Westborough and Jean Lord of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews. In his final years, he was cared for as he wished by his children, and by family friend, Sharon Gravlin, also of Westborough.
Gabe was predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 30th at 10:30 A.M. at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery. Masks, physical distancing, and attendance limits due to the pandemic are required.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Westborough Senior Center, 4 Rogers Road, Westborough, MA 01581.
