Joanne D. Arvidson, 93, formerly of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Northborough.
Joanne was born in Connecticut and lived in Connecticut while growing up. She attended college and graduated from Tufts University (Jackson College)
Joanne raised her family in California and Massachusetts, living in Westborough for more than 60 years. She became Assistant Librarian at Westborough High School after her children entered high school and college.
She was a dedicated sports fan and was in regular attendance at her children’s and grandchildren’s youth, high school, and college sports events. She was fond of travel and was able to visit many scenic places in the US, and in more than a dozen countries throughout the world.
Above all, she loved the most simple and beautiful things in life. She loved her flowers and vegetable gardens. She loved her family and friends. She loved hearing happy sounds in the pool on a hot summer day followed by drinks and a barbeque on the patio. She loved to cook and make zucchini bread with her grandchildren. Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve with the family were her favorites. She loved her books, her birds and especially her dogs. Her passion was to be great mom, family member and a good friend to all.
Joanne was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Dean B Arvidson, who passed away in 2021.
She is survived by three children, Dean Arvidson Jr. and his wife, Cathleen, of Shrewsbury, Dr. Eric Arvidson and his wife, Ellen, of Andover and Holly Arvidson of Woodbridge, VA; a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Dean Seibert and Ann Seibert of Norwich, VT and seven beloved granddaughters: Allison, Kristen, Heather, Kirsten, Sarah, Kimberly, Laura, her husband Francisco, and their daughter.
The family would like to thank Joanne’s caregivers at Beaumont Skilled Nursing, Worcester and Northborough, for their care, kindness, and support for the past three years.
Private burial services will take place in December with a celebration of life planned for the spring.
Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
