John A. Heywood , 90, of Yarmouthport, and Ft. Myers, FL and formerly of Westborough and Wolfeboro, NH passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2013.  He was the loving husband of Margaret Wheeler Heywood.  They were married for nearly 67 years.
Mr. Heywood was born in Framingham, the son of the late Ralph E. and Marian N. Heywood.  He attended Westborough Public Schools and was a graduate of Middlebury College, class of 1947.   He completed graduate studies at Babson College.  He served with the US Army in Peru during World War II.
Mr. Heywood worked for many years at Draper Corporation in Hopedale where he rose to Vice President of Latin American Sales.  He later purchased Minuteman Travel Service in Westborough and operated it until his retirement.  He was a Trustee of both the Westborough Savings Bank and the Congregational Church of Westborough.
Mr. Heywood’s happiest times were spent travelling the world to over 130 countries with his family and friends.
Besides his wife, Mr. Heywood is survived by his children, Leslie Hackman and her husband Kevin of Warwick, RI, Douglas Heywood and his partner Gregory Winston of Harwich Port, John Heywood and his wife Kathy of Nashua, NH, and son-in-law John Safford of Manchester, NH.  He also leaves his five grandchildren, Margaret Safford and her fiancé Manuel Liongson, Elizabeth Safford, Anne Hackman, Nason and Molly Heywood and a great granddaughter Eva Lynn Liongson.  He also leaves his sister, Persis Wattles, and sister-in-law, Virginia Wheeler, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his daughter Lynn H. Safford.
There will be a graveside memorial service for Mr. Heywood to which relatives and friends are invited on Thursday, July 18 at 11:00 A.M.,  Pine Grove Cemetery, South Street, Westborough.  Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough.
