WESTBOROUGH-John L. Rollinson, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2013 at the Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Worcester with his family and dog, Prince by his side. He was the husband of the late LaVerne B. (Petrtyl) Rollinson.

Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Walter and Helen (Lowell) Rollinson. He was a graduate of North High School in Worcester and attended Wentworth Institute.

During WWII he served with the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Rollinson was employed as a Resident Demonstrator at the Norton Company and Warner Swasey for many years prior to his retirement. As a young man he worked at Jordan Farm in Rutland and always recalled that time fondly.

John enjoyed fishing, carpentry and camping. He has been a resident of Westborough for several years previously living in Holden, San Diego and Illinois.

John is survived by two daughters, Judith Ann Rollinson of Westborough and Luci H. Buckner of Asheville, NC; two sons, John L. Rollinson, Jr. of Northampton and Steven Rollinson of Japan; two step sons, Charles Filip and Russell Filip; one step daughter, Wendy Ducy and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves his first wife, Gloria Kennedy and her husband, Jack of Holden.

He was the brother of the late Earle Rollinson and Albert Rollinson. He was predeceased by his second wife, Gladys (Jacobson).

His children knew him as an honest, sincere, gentle and very hardworking man who had a wonderful laugh. They will miss him greatly.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Vincent’s Hospital, The Lutheran Home and Summit Elder Care for taking such good care of him.

His funeral service will be held on Friday, October 11, at 11:00 A.M. in the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the service from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
