Westborough

Joseph Peter Posk Jr. of East Greenwich, RI died on January 15, 2019 with his family by his side.

He was known as “Joe” by many of his friends and “Peter” by his childhood friends and family. He was born in Spencer Massachusetts, the son of Joseph Posk Sr of Athol Massachusetts and Irene Posk (nee Cooke) of Watertown, NY.

He attended David Prouty High School in Spencer, where he played in a rock & jazz band. He went on to graduate from Norwich University, The Military College of Vermont. Joe married Jean Posk (nee Birong) after graduation and the two moved to Germany where he was stationed with the US Army.

Joe and Jean moved to Rhode Island in 1967 and he spent his career at Narragansett Electric, later New England Electric, first as an electrical engineer and later in various Management roles. They bought a home in East Greenwich in 1969, where they have resided since, in which the two raised their three children.

Through the years Joe enjoyed spending time with family. His passions were boating & fishing, playing tennis & golf, and vacationing each summer in Point Judith. He loved the outdoors, working in the yard and always had a home improvement project to work on.

Joe is survived by his wife Jean, sons Peter (and his wife Ann Marie) and Mike (and his wife Kathleen), daughter Allison (and her husband Chip) and his sister Irene Carnahan. He is also survived by his grandchildren Mikayla and Mitchell Posk, Eva and Olivia Posk, and Cassidy, Lexi and Tyler Lattanzio.

Per his wishes, the family will host a Celebration of Life event this summer at a date and place to be determined.

A small service will be held in Massachusetts for family and close friends. To leave an online condolence please visit www.westboroughfuneralhome.com.
