Joseph Charles Turano, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2023 at Gladeview Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Old Saybrook Connecticut, at the age of 81, after a brief illness. Born on March 1, 1942, Joseph was the only son of the late Leonard and Cecelia Turano of Brooklyn New York and Westborough Massachusetts. He was predeceased by his wife Laura Turano who passed away on July 7, 2003, and his sister and only sibling Natalie Motta who passed away on November 6, 2024.
Joseph is survived by his two children, Lisa Simone and her husband Michael of Niantic, Connecticut, and Scott Turano of Gainesville Florida; his grandchildren, Richard Steele and his wife Summer, of Petal Mississippi, Heather Steele and her fiancé Trevor Marshall of Ft Lauderdale Florida; and great-granddaughter Aubree Steele of Petal Mississippi.
Joseph was a certified and highly respected Heidelberg Press Technician. His company, Sound Graphics, was contracted to work on presses all around the world. Joseph was an enthusiast for anything to do with machinery, cars, trucks, planes, or trains. This was evident in his love of automobile racing and extensive model collection. Joseph enjoyed fishing the Niantic River and Bay, as well as blue crabbing around Waterford, CT. He was a very generous family man, who loved to make people laugh, and will be sorely missed.
A funeral Mass to honor both Joseph and his sister Natalie together will be held on Saturday, December 7, at 10:00 AM in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St. Westborough, MA. All are welcome.
