Katharine L. Howard

Katharine L. “Kathy” Howard, 83, of Westborough, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 13, 2023, shortly after learning of her daughter, Rebecca’s death.  She is the beloved wife of 53 years to Robert Howard.

Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Mary (Smith) Bedard.  She was raised and educated in Worcester and was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Worcester.  After high school she went on to obtain her undergraduate at Anna Maria College and then her master’s degree at Worcester State University in teaching.

Prior to retirement, Mrs. Howard was employed as a 4th grade elementary teacher for 52 years having spent 44 of those years teaching at Margaret A. Neary Elementary School in Southborough.

Kathy enjoyed spending time at their home in Ogunquit, ME for the last 35 years, traveling to the Caribbean, reading, spending time on anything related to education, and loved her Bernese Mountain Dogs.

She is predeceased by her daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Sylvia Barry, who died on November 12, 2023.

A celebration of Kathy and Becky’s lives will be held from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. on Saturday November 18 and Sunday November 19 at Robert and Kathy’s Home, 45 Grasshopper Lane, Ogunquit, ME.
