Kenneth H. Coley

Kenneth Hudson Coley, son of Walter Hudson Coley, Jr. and Esther Naomi Strang Coley passed away on October 12, 2024 in the presence of his loving family.  Ken was born on January 31, 1939 in Homestead, PA.  Husband of Nancy Hunt Coley; father of Douglas Hudson Coley (Cornelia Collins) and Daniel Scott Coley (Helene Brown); grandfather of Patrick (Samantha Barrus), Sarah, and Alexander; and brother of Donald Coley (Beth Pych).  Nancy and Ken celebrated their 64th anniversary on October 1st.

Ken was a graduate of Duquesne High School in Duquesne, PA where he started dating his bride of 64 years.  He played football (a frequent highlight of his trip down memory lane).  He graduated from Waynesburg University in 1960 with BS in Mathematics.  He was a founding member of Zeta Epsilon chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon.  When Ken qualified as a programmer, he assumed he was going into television, not the infancy of the computer industry.  He started his career as a programmer at BF Goodrich in Shelton, CT.  He then moved to New Jersey to work at RCA.  The family relocated with RCA to Westborough, Ma in 1970.  He continued his career with Raytheon working on the Patriot Missile, followed by Data General then Digital Equipment Corporation, where he retired.

A dedicated Boston/ New England fan having recovered from his original misguided allegiance to the Steelers (sorry Don). He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, horse racing and casino craps.  Perhaps his greatest pleasures were life discussions with Doug, coaching Dan in baseball, and watching Sarah’s field hockey and softball games.  He also took great pride in his 44 years friendship with Bill W and the many others in the brotherhood.  Though never seeking attention, he impacted many with his humor and sincerity.  He will exist in our hearts forever.

Calling hours will be held from 1 to 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, October 19, in the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main Street, Westborough.

A memorial service will follow at 2:30 P.M. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, we suggest donations to Saint Jude Children Research Hospital.
