WESTBOROUGH/GORHAM, ME- Leon N. Andrews, 84, of Gorham, Maine, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at home. He was the husband of the late Norma I. (Wheeler) Andrews.

Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late L. Preston and Marion (Onthank) Andrews. He was raised in Hopkinton and Westborough and attended the Worcester Boys Trade School.

During the WW II he served with the U. S. Army.

Mr. Andrews owned and operated a farm in Westborough and also owned an IHOP Restaurant in Shrewsbury and in Natick. In the late 1960’s he moved to Vermont where he owned a grocery store. He later moved to Berlin, MA then retired to Cape Cod. He has spent the past 11 years living in Gorham.

Leon is survived by three sons, Wayne L. Andrews of Marlborough, Bruce D. Andrews of Oxford, Maine and Mark B. Andrews of Bernardston, MA; two daughters, Jennifer E. DiSilva of Woonsocket, RI and Leah J. Veazie, with whom he lived, of Gorham, Maine; three sisters, Phyllis Graham of Colebrook, NH, Thelma Nordwell of Westborough and Carole Jolie of Westborough. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 7, at 12 Noon in the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in North Cemetery, Berlin.

A calling hour will be held from 11:00 A.M. to Noon prior to the service.

Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
