WESTBOROUGH- Leonard E. Anderson, 78, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. He was the beloved husband of 36 years to Lois M. (Lilyestrom) Anderson.
Born in Milford, MA, he was the son of the late Emil and Ida (Mattson) Anderson. He was educated in Sutton and Northborough schools and was a graduate of Northborough High School. He also graduated from Wentworth Institute, Northeastern University and served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Leonard was a self-employed blasting contractor and owned and operated Anderson Explosives.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, a member and past master of Siloam Lodge AF & AM in Westborough. He was a former member and past master of Montachute Lodge in Worcester.
He enjoyed woodworking, furniture restoration and antique cars.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Kevin J. Anderson and his wife, Susan, of Windsor, VT and Steven K. Anderson and his wife, Ruth, of South Grafton; one sister, Judith Whitmore and her husband, David, of Sterling; six grandchildren, Margaret Fitzpatrick and her husband, Brian, Erika Anderson, Benjamin Anderson, Eleanor Anderson, Corrine Anderson, Emily Anderson and two great-grandchildren, Jameson and Candace Fitzpatrick. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the brother of the late Sylvia Johnson.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, May 30, at 11:00 A.M. in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 183 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Thursday, May 29, from 4 to 7 P.M. Members of Siloam Lodge will conduct a service at 6:45 P.M.
