Pawtucket – Louise Helen (Bowab) Ameen, 89, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late George Ameen. Mother of Judith and Edward Wilchynski of Westborough, MA, Michael George Ameen of Los Angeles, CA, Mary and Michael Benjamin of Shrewsbury, MA, and Janice Ameen and Catherine Audette of Putney, VT. Grandmother of Matthew Wilchynski and fiancée Cristina Moniz, Mark and Kelsey Craun Wilchynski, Kathryn Wilchynski, Kristen, Emily, Natalie and Michael Benjamin. Sister of Mary Haddad of Braintree, MA. Sister-in-law of Helen Ameen of Pawtucket, Mary Ameen of Kapolei, Hawaii and Joseph Soucar of Braintree, Ma.
Louise was the daughter of the late Elias and Emily (Smaha) Bowab of West Roxbury, MA and the sister of the late Rev. Michael Bowab and Sarah Soucar.
She lived in Pawtucket from 1927 to 1941 when her family moved to Boston. Louise graduated from Girls High School and the Boston Dispensary School for Medical Technology.
She worked as a medical technician at Pratt Diagnostic Hospital, now Tufts Medical Center, and Boston Children’s Hospital. Louise returned to Pawtucket when she married George in 1953.
She was a communicant of the Church of St. Basil the Great, Lincoln and a member of St. Basil’s Fellowship, Friendly Visitor, and Prayer Line.
Louise’s love for her church, the parishioners, and its needs were evident during her lifetime. Her wish, now, is to honor the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Please omit flowers. Calling hours were Friday, February 12th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Church of St. Basil the Great, 15 Skyview Drive, Lincoln. Liturgy of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, February 13th at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Basil the Great. Interment followed at Mt. Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
