Marion A. (Nelpi) Merchant

WESTBOROUGH- Marion A. Merchant, 91, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late George J. Merchant.

Born in Westborough, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Natalie (Malchodi) Nelpi and was educated in Westborough schools.

Marion was employed many years ago as a lab technician at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. In recent years she worked as a cashier at the Rotary Club of Westborough Driving Range.

She was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church and volunteered for the Martha and Mary’s. She also delivered Meals On Wheels and has been a lifelong resident of Westborough.

Marion is survived by her four children, Charles T. Merchant and his wife, Judy, of Shrewsbury, Marilyn A. Perry and her husband, Bob, of Swampscott, Michael D. Merchant of New York City and Sharon A. Sutherland and her husband, Mark, of Merrill Island, SC; her companion, Richard Thompson of Westborough; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was the sister of the late Edward Nelpi, Albert Nelpi, Alice Ruchinskas and Eileen Merchant.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 21, at 10:00 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
