Mark E. Chase

Mark Earle Chase, formerly of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 3, 2023, at home with his devoted wife, Betty, and beloved Golden Retriever, Sutter, by his side.

A 1972 graduate of Westborough High School, Mark was a talented musician playing both the saxophone and clarinet in the Ranger marching, concert, and jazz bands.  He earned varsity letters in gymnastics and cross country.  Mark attended Worcester State University and was recruited by Data General Corporation to work in Sunnyvale, California where he lived until his move to the mountains of Arnold, California.

Mark spent many years as the Commissioner of the Sunnyvale Little League.  Mark’s children, Justin and Lindsey, enjoyed his love of marching bands and participated in their high schools’ and San Jose State’s bands.  Anything needing building or fixing, Mark was your man.  As a friend, husband, and father, Mark was fiercely loyal to those in his life and always had a kind word, a warm smile, and a hearty laugh.  Mark made friends easily and loved to welcome guests to his home and grill.  With a Golden Retriever (or two) at his side, Mark enjoyed being outdoors with his camera.  In Arnold, he lived in a close- knit golf community where his game benefitted tremendously!   He was first out the door with a snow shovel to dig out his neighbors or to offer a helping hand with a stuck vehicle.

Preceded in death by his father, Earle W. Chase, Jr, Mark is survived by his mom, Mary Jane Chase, sisters Cherylann (Donald), and Laurie (Jim) and brothers Scott (Maria) and Jeffrey (Sonja), wife Betty, children Justin (Emily) and Lindsey (Tyler), and seven grandchildren:  Aubrey and Jackson Chase and Tessa, Millie, Riley, Wade, and Logan Brimhall.

The family would like to acknowledge and give our deepest thanks to Betty Chase for giving Mark the best years of his life and for caring for him so tenderly and lovingly during his illness.  Contributions may be made in Mark’s memory to NORCAL, a non-profit, all volunteer organization whose mission is to rescue and place adoptable Golden Retrievers in Northern California in safe and loving homes.

Services will be held privately with his family.
