Mary A. Savelloni

WESTBOROUGH

SUTTON/WESTBOROUGH– Mary Ann (DiCecco) Savelloni, Age 90 of Sutton, formerly of Westborough, MA, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

Mary was the beloved wife of the late Mario A. Savelloni who passed away in 2011.  They were married for 50 years.

Mary was born in Marcus Hook, PA and was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Antonietta (Natale) DiCecco.  Mary grew up in Marcus Hook, and attended Ridley Park High School in Ridley Park, PA graduating in 1948.  She then attended Sleeper’s Business College, Chester, PA for the next two years.  Mary worked at Metropolitan Insurance where her astute skills in math helped her attain her next position at Sun Oil Inc.  In the lab, Mary worked testing crude oil samples on a Mass Spectrometer.  At the time, she was the only woman in the lab doing this type of work.

Mary and Mario had four children moving several times for Mario’s job.  In 1975 they made their final move to Westboro.  They were members of St. Luke’s Parish for over 45 years.  Mary worked as a bank teller at Shawmut Bank, and later at Westboro Savings Bank.

Mary was a member of St. Luke’s Women’s Club and volunteered at many of the club events.  She also volunteered at the Mustard Seed in Worcester.  Mary was a gifted homemaker.  She was known for her hospitality and talents as a cook, inviting many people to her table.  Her kindness extended to everyone, and she had the unique ability to make people feel at home. Mary enjoyed her bowling league, music and big band dancing, bird watching and her pets.

Mary is survived by her children, Marie (Savelloni) LaHair and her husband Brian of Sutton, Mark Savelloni and his wife Ingrid of Manassas, VA, Michael Savelloni and his wife Elizabeth of Needham, MA and Matthew Savelloni and his wife Katy of Los Angeles, CA.

Mary was a doting grandmother to Rachel and Emily LaHair of Sutton and Mia and Dominic Savelloni of Manassas, VA.  She also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews.  Mary was predeceased by her brother Dominic DiCecco and his wife Mary of Norristown, PA, brother-in-law Erminio Savelloni and his wife Anna of Swarthmore, PA and sister-in-law Ida Ferrarelli and her husband Samuel of Boothwyn, PA.

Mary was the kindest soul and greatly loved.  She will be missed.  The family would like to thank her wonderful caretakers: Beverlyn, Megan and Kim who worked tirelessly to make her final years comfortable and meaningful.  They would also like to thank the caring staffs of St. Camillus Adult Day Health, Whitinsville, MA and Notre Dame Hospice of Worcester, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.

Calling hours will be at the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main Street, Westborough, on Tuesday, May 4th from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Her funeral Mass will immediately follow at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main Street, Westborough, MA at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery, Westborough.
