Mary Anne Button, of Westborough, died in her home among family on Sunday, September 30th. The cause was liver cancer. She was 83.
Mary Anne is survived by her three children, Dan Button and his wife, Kathleen, Linda Button and her partner, Peter Vicars, and David Button, as well as her grandchildren, James Button and his wife, Tiffie, Kalie Button, Kyle and Milo Tomizawa, and her great grandchildren, Andrew and Nate Button. She also leaves her longtime, cherished friend, Howard Ayotte.
Mary Anne was born in Buffalo New York to Lawrence and Christine Bailey. She called herself a Navy brat, shuttling around the country, until she and her mother settled in Alfred New York. She attended Alfred-Almond high school and got an associates degree at Alfred University. Mary Anne married Dan Button in 1955 and raised their children as they moved from New York to California, then on to Pennsylvania and, finally, Massachusetts.
She worked for many years as a proofreader at Chase Thermographers, sat on the board of her condo association, and tackled crosswords in the paper.
She loved to read, a stack of novels waiting in the corner of the room. But her greatest joy, besides family gatherings, were her trips to the Cape and Marco Island with Howie and friends. She was kind, down-to-earth, and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.
Although she asked for no services, she did want family and friends to gather, laugh and share moments in her memory. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to VNA Hospice Care https://vnacare.org/donors, who made it possible for her to remain at home.
