Merrill H. Stratton, 86, a veteran of the Korean War, of Westborough, MA passed away on January 31, 2017. Born in Hopkinton, MA on November 25, 1930
he is preceded in death by his parents Alvin E. and Doris W. Stratton, a brother Alvin R. Stratton, his lovely wife Betty (Floyd) Stratton, and his sister in-law Mertice E. Stratton.
He is survived by his brother Roy D. Stratton, a Navy Veteran of WWII, in Hopkinton, and Roy's family, Janis and Charles Bunting of Grafton, Susan and Philip George, and son Bryan, of Upton, and Roy Stratton, Jr. and daughter Victoria also of Upton.
Merrill graduated from the Hopkinton High School, class of ‘49 and went into the armed services thereafter, and later became an advocate for veterans of the Korean War. He was artistically inclined and graduated from Vesper George School of Art. He worked at Fenwal Inc., and was a member of their Quarter Century Club.
Merrill was the commander of the American Legion Post #163 in Westborough for 17 years and was respected by all that knew him.
A graveside funeral service, with military honors, will be held on Monday, February 6, at 1:00 P.M. in Pine Grove Cemetery, South St., Westborough. There are no calling hours.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the David A. Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough.
