WORCESTER

Michael James Silva (Mike), 57, of Worcester, MA passed away peacefully at home with his wife, Heidi, at his side on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

Mike was born in Somerville, MA on July 19, 1963 and graduated from Somerville High School in 1983. After high school, Mike enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country for three years, stationed first at Fort Bragg before deploying to Korea for a year.  He served honorably and earned several commendations. Following his service he worked a few different jobs before beginning employment at Travelers Insurance where he met his best friend and the love of his life, Heidi Rae Walker.  Together they created a home in Worcester, MA where they celebrated almost 27 years of marriage.  Mike's next favorite place was Cape Cod.  He loved spending time there walking the beach and capturing the beautiful sunrises with his camera. His artistic talent was revealed not only through his photography but also was put to good use in his 24 years at E.L. Harvey and Sons creating the signage for the trucks and other equipment. Beside his love of graphic arts, Mike loved cooking and was an avid movie buff. Most of all, Mike loved his family and his fur babies, Tasha, Spider, Precious and Trouble.

His kind, gentle old soul will be missed terribly Heidi and the family wish to express their grateful appreciation for the care Mike received from Salmon VNA and Hospice.

Mike is survived by his wife Heidi Rae Silva, his brothers and their spouses, Steve and Sue of Franklin, TN, Robert and Janice of Wilmington, MA and Bernard and Elizabeth of North Andover, MA, numerous nieces and nephews as well as the extended family of his wife.  He is predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Ann Silva.
