Michaelina F. “Mickie” Aylward passed away peacefully at home on October 14, 2022 at the age of 82.
She was born to John W. and Patricia M. (Reynolds) Casey. After graduating St. Anne Academy, Mickie attended Worcester Art Museum School of Art and received her degree from Clark University.
Mickie was a lifelong member of Saint Luke the Evangelist Church where she was an active parishioner, assisting with multiple church programs beginning in 1978. Mrs. Aylward worked as a creative designer for Dennison Mfg. Co. and retired from Verizon as a graphic designer. She even taught private art lessons from her home for a number of years. She enjoyed painting, gardening, cooking, and traveling.
Her paintings were as creative and eloquent as her writings. To help celebrate Westborough’s 300th anniversary she wrote a book about life in Westborough during the 50’s, which was placed in a time capsule to be opened in 100 years. Her love for, and contributions to the town of Westborough will live on for years to come.
Mickie was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, John P Aylward. She is survived by sons; Casey Aylward of Millbury, Matthew Aylward of Englewood, FL and Mark Aylward of Kansas City, MO. Her sister, Karen M Casey pre-deceases her as a child.
The family would also like to give special thanks to Alicia Evertsen, Patricia Collins, and Cathy Cruz for treating Mickie as their own mother while caring for her through this difficult time.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 20 at 10:30 A.M. in Saint Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial in St. Luke’s Cemetery will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aveanna Healthcare.
