WESTBOROUGH- Michelle J. Farland, 56, of Marlborough, formerly of Westborough, died Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Rose Monahan Hospice in Worcester, MA, after a battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme. She leaves her chosen family of friends, who have graciously taken care of her every need since her diagnosis in July of 2012. She leaves her Godchild, Sarah Braley, and her cat, Leo, who has been missing her dearly since her departure to hospice. In addition, she leaves her only living brother Peter J. Farland and his wife Susan of Shrewsbury, MA, plus a niece, Nicole and a nephew, Tyler. She also leaves her Aunt, Barbara Corey of Framingham, MA.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, William J. and Dorothy (Czechowski) Farland, in addition to three brothers: David, Paul and Michael Farland. She was born in Worcester and raised in Westborough, where she attended Westborough High School. She also attended UMASS in Amherst and received a Certificate from Assabet Valley Regional Vocational School in CAD (computer aided design). She worked for Data General for many years, in addition to PSI of Westborough, MA. Recently, she worked at United Electric Controls in Watertown, using her design skills.
Michelle loved art and she would have loved to make it her career. She also loved to cook and tend to her garden, but mostly she loved to tend to her garden of friends.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 23, at 10:00 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough.
Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., are Friday, March 22, from 5 to 8 P.M.
