WESTBOROUGH- Norma J. (Richardson) McDonald, 96, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at home.
Born in West Brookfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Forrest and Evelyn (Edson) Richardson. She began her education in West Brookfield schools and ultimately earned a Master’s Degree from Columbia University.
Norma completed a distinguished 38 year career as a public school teacher, the last 25 years in New York on Long Island, before retiring in 1977.
She has been a resident of The Willows for the past 14 years where she was active in planning and participating in resident governance and social activities. She enjoyed world travel, theater and actively debating current events.
Norma is survived by three grandsons, Robert E. McDonald, Jr. and his wife, Catherine, of Ridgefield, CT, Christopher J. McDonald and his wife, Mary, of Clinton and Scott Blaney of Garner, NC. She is also survived by six great grandchildren Jack McDonald and his wife Sarah of Alexandria, VA, Paul McDonald of Indianapolis, IN, Abigail McDonald and Pamela McDonald of Ridgefield, CT, and Jacob McDonald and Lucas McDonald of Clinton.
She also leaves a daughter-in-law and a son-in-law as well as several nieces and nephews in addition to her many friends at The Willows.
She was predeceased by her son Robert E. McDonald, Sr., her daughter Janice (McDonald) Blaney and her sisters Mary (Richardson) Grimes and Elinor (Richardson) Cilley.
The family would to like express their sincere appreciation for the love and care provided by Norma’s dedicated caregivers: Margaret Sang, Judy Sang, Sarah Bravo and Elisa Bravo.
Her memorial service will be held on Friday, August 15, at 10:00 A.M. in the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will be private in Mooreland Cemetery, Paxton.
