Oscar V. Najarian

Oscar V. Najarian, 89, of Westborough, MA passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Burke) Najarian who was the love of his life and to whom he was married for 57 years.

Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Vartan and Arooseag (Kasparian) Najarian. He was a graduate of Commerce High School in 1953 and Fitchburg State in 1957 where he also played baseball.

Oscar began his teaching career at the Lake Street School in Spencer, MA teaching Industrial Arts. He carried those talents over to Curtis Middle School in Sudbury, MA where he taught for nearly 3 decades until his retirement in 1995.

Oscar and Pat built their life in Westborough. Oscar was a mainstay in the community for over 57 years. He was always by his wife’s side on election days volunteering at the polls and with the recreation department in later years.

He was the Head Coach of the women’s and men’s tennis teams at The College of the Holy Cross from 1972-1998. He was a master craftsman and carpenter who loved his family more than anything as well as his beloved Red Sox.

He enjoyed spending time with his many friends, golfing, and walking his best friends Mo and Youkie.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Peter Najarian of Holden, Kevin Najarian and his wife, Lynne, of Milford and Craig Najarian and his wife, Katie, of Northborough and five grandchildren, Patrick, Megan, Kacie, Julia, and Grace.

He was predeceased by his sister, Sara Bejoian.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 7, at 10:30 am at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough, MA. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.

Calling hours at the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Monday, March 6 from 4 pm to 7 pm.
