Paul J. Burgess, of Worcester passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, at the age of 69, after a strong and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Paul was raised in Westborough, Massachusetts by his parents Francis and Agnes Burgess. He graduated from Emmanuel College and received his Master Degree’s from both Nichols College and Worcester State University. Paul taught in the Worcester Public Schools for 20 years. Alongside of teaching, he was a tax accountant for many clients in the Worcester area for over 35 years. He was also the Treasurer for the Educational Association of Worcester. Paul’s commitment and compassion to both his student’s and clients was evident. Paul lived a wonderful life full of kindness and dedication to his family and friends.
Paul loved the ocean, long walks, and traveling. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Some of his greatest memories was running the Boston Marathon and sky diving out of an airplane. He had a knack for telling a story, which almost always ended with a laugh. After his diagnosis, there were many people who supported him. They would bring him meals, stop by to talk, mow his lawn, shovel his driveway and drive him to appointments and meetings. Paul was a kind and gentle man who always wanted the best for everyone. He would always offer a message of hope, was willing to offer his opinion when needed and took great interest in everyone’s successes. Paul will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him.
Paul is survived by his brother Robert Burgess and his wife Sandy of Westborough, MA, Mary Lane and her husband Dave of Upton, MA and his nieces Lindsay Burgess and Michelle Burgess of Westborough, MA.
