WESTBOROUGH- Paul R. Lane, 72, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at home after a courageous battle with ALS. He was the husband of Linda J. (Fraser) Lane.
Born in Somerville, he was the son of the late Patrick and Blanche (Danforth) Lane. He was educated in Northborough and was a graduate of Northborough High School.
During the Vietnam Era he served with the U.S. Coast Guard attaining the rank of Yeoman Second Class serving onboard the Cook Inlet and General Green before becoming a recruiter. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal.
Paul was a manager for AM International and Verityper before becoming a self-employed painting and wallpaper contractor in the greater Westborough area.
He enjoyed and taught country dancing and two-steping, enjoyed his home in Maine, gardening, playing guitar, camping, fishing and trips to Bermuda. But most of all was devoted to his entire family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children, Melissa A. Holland and her fiancé, Scott Clemmer, of North Grafton and Robert W. Lane and his wife, April, of North Grafton; one sister, Barbara R. Goodnow and her husband, Edward, of Sturbridge and one brother, Richard D. Lane and his wife, Luann, of Northborough; a brother in law, Ronald A. Fraser of Westborough; three grandchildren Jonathan Holland, Steven Lane and Matthew Lane.
He was the brother of the late William Lane and John Lane.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 14, at 1:30 P.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Monday, May 13, from 5 to 8 P.M.
