Pauline Woods, 98, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2012 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center.
Pauline Gordon Woods was born December 21, 1913 in Grand Rapids, MI and
grew up in Detroit and St. Petersburg, FL. She graduated Agnes Scott
College, in Decatur, GA, with a degree in math and chemistry. Moving to New
York City she studied at Columbia University and worked at Metropolitan
Life. While in NY she met her future husband, Fred Woods.
After the war Polly and Fred moved to Garden City,New York, where they
lived with their sons, Fred, Jr., born in 1943, and Joseph Gordon, born in
1946.
In Garden City Polly was active at the Cathedral of the Incarnation where
she was a manager of the Nearly New Shop.
In recent years Polly lived at The Willows, a retirement community in
Westborough, where she was president of the residents association for
several years.
She is survived by her sons, Fred Woods and Joseph Gordon
Woods, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 3 John St.,
Westborough, on Tuesday, January 8, at 10:00 A.M.
