Penelope C. Temple, 81, of Orange, MA and formerly of Westborough, passed away peacefully after a full life. Penny was born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan, the only child of Edward W. and Florence McIntyre Clark. She graduated in 1961 from Fordson High School, Dearborn, Michigan.
After moving to Westborough in the early 1970s, Penny worked as a town school bus driver for many years until she decided to return to college to earn her teaching degree. Upon graduating from Worcester State College, Penny worked as a substitute teacher, often at Westborough Middle School. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Westborough. Penny and her husband, Walter, also lived in Los Alamos, NM and Wilmington, NC before returning to Orange, MA to be closer to family.
Penny was an avid gardener and a voracious reader. She was a life-long learner, who enjoyed American history and politics. Most of all, Penny had a gift for making anywhere feel like home.
Penny is survived by her children: Tory (& Matt) Brogan of Eden Prairie, MN; Dr. Chip (& Michele) Hinde of Omaha, NE; Sheila (& Wayne) Spaulding of Gig Harbor, WA; Carol Temple of Orange, MA; and Deborah Temple of Westborough, MA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Penny is predeceased by her husband, Walter, to whom she was married for forty years.
A calling hour will be held on March 8th from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main Street, Westborough, followed by a brief Celebration of Life at 10:30 A.M. A private burial for immediate family only will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you simply spread some love today: please reach out to someone you care about and tell them how much they mean to you.
