WESTBOROUGH- Richard J. “Dick†Holt, 80, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 29, 2012.
Dick was born in Marlborough, the son of Ernest and Eva (Fortin) Holt. He received his Bachelor and Master’s of Science degrees from Boston College and he was also a PhD candidate and Teaching Fellow at Harvard, which he left to co-found Weston Geophysical Engineering, Inc. at Weston Observatory. He served as President of the Research division until 1995 when he retired. He then co-founded NDT Engineering Company where he was active as a consultant in non-destructive testing. Dick was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church.
Dick is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nita (deBairos) Holt; three sons, Peter of Salem, Matthew of Westborough and Christopher of Sacramento; three grandchildren, Matthew of Hixson, TN, Ksenia of Cambridge, and Ethan of Salem, many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends. Besides his parents he was pre-deceased by his two brothers, Ernest and Russell and his infant daughter, Nancy Louise.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 3, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will be private.
Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Sunday, Dec. 2, from 2 to 4 P.M.
